Venue

The Conference will take place at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FCT) which is one of the five schools integrating Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL). FCT provides high-quality university education in Sciences and Engineering through undergraduate and graduate programs. FCT is located at Caparica Campus , Quinta da Torre da Torre close to Costa da Caparica and Lisbon. For accommodation the two best options are Costa da Caparica or Lisbon. In Costa da Caparica, we recommend the Hotel da Costa da Caparica, in Lisbon we recommend Hotel Zurique located close to the Entrecampos train station.

Directions (using public transportation, from Lisbon to FCT-UNL)

Go to the Entrecampos train station and get into one of the trains operated by Fertagus, with destination Setúbal or Coina. Get out at Pragal train station and, at the same interface, get into the surface subway with destination Universidade operated by MST. Get out at Universidade station (the end of the subway line) . You will receive directions on how to reach the campus building from the security guards at the entrance. Alternatively you can use the campus map posted at the page conference website.

Go west on the 2 Circular expressway, pass Campo Grande and get off at the Eixo Norte-Sul exit. Follow the signs that lead to A2 Sul and to the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge. Once over the bridge stay in the right lane and get off at the first exit that says Costa da Caparica. This exit will take you onto another roadway. After about 1 km get off at the second exit that says Universidade/Porto Brandao. After exiting, drive about 75 m until you come to a roundabout. Once there follow the signs that indicate the way to the University (Universidade). You will receive directions on how to reach the campus building from the security guards at the entrance. Facilities

Participants of the conference will have access to the facilities of the Mathematics Department. Wireless accounts will provided to the participants. In addition special arrangements can be made for printing.

Costa da Caparica

Costa da Caparica belongs to the Almada council, located on the south bank of the river Tagus where magnificent sandy beaches stretch south for nearly 30 kilometres from Caparica to Cabo Espichel. Big areas of eucalyptus, pine-trees and acacia-trees spread along the white, fine sands. Costa da Caparica also holds a market between Tuesdays and Sundays where fishermens wives and farmers cry out their products. There are exquisite fish restaurants where you can taste fresh and unusual dishes and beach cafes with night animation. On the cliff above the beach stands an old Capuchin Monastery originally founded in 1558

Lisbon

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal and its largest city, lies in the north bank of the Tagus (Tejo) in the Portuguese Western coast. Foreign visitors will probably arrive at Lisbon's International Airport with an easy connection (about 15 minutes) by taxi or express bus to the hotels mentioned in the suggested accomodations section. Towns of touristic interest like Cascais, Estoril, Sintra (view from Sintra's "Palacio da Pena"), Óbidos and Mafra are within a one hour drive from Lisbon or easily reachable using public transportation (Portuguese Railways, Buses, and Lisbon Underground).

Due to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, Lisboa has a pleasant climate throughout the year. The agreable temperatures in the summer months are an open invitation for a walk by the river or to spend an afternoon in one of the many street cafés to be found all over the town. Weather during July is generally pleaseantly hot.
