From the Alameda subway station you can see the Institute if you look to the side opposite to the fountain. Going up the hill you enter the Institute through stairs between #7 and #14 on the map of the Institute (you will be facing the central building - #1 - of the Institute). Then head to #3 and look for the Anfiteatro (lecture hall room) where the School is taking place.
Coming from either Campo Pequeno or Saldanha, you will approach the Institute from the back. You enter the Institute through stairs between #3 and #2 on the map of the Institute (you will be facing the rear of the central building - #1 - of the Institute). Then head to #3 and look for the Anfiteatro (lecture hall room) where the School is taking place.
There will be a conference fee of 15000 PTE for those who register before May 15. Late registrations will have an additional fee of 5000 PTE. All fees are to be payed upon arrival. The fee will include the participation to the social events.
From the airport to the conference hotel and to IST, a taxi will cost around 1000 PTE, and it will be the simplest option. Those arriving by train should get off at Gare do Oriente (not at Santa Apolónia). From here one can either take a taxi (around 1000 PTE) or the subway to Alameda. From the EU and from the USA visas are not required. For other nationalities, we recommend to contact the local Portuguese embassy. A comprehensive list of embassies can be found here.

The local currency is the Portuguese Escudos (PTE). The fixed conversion rate to the EURO is 1 EURO = 200 PTE. The rate to the US dollar is approximately $1 = 237 PTE. For an up-to-date conversion, you can visit the currency converter.

The weather in Lisbon at this time of the year is extremely pleasant. The highs during the day are around 30 C (86 F), with a fresh breaze from the ocean.
