INSTITUTE DIRECTIONS & MAP
The thematic period mini-courses and seminars will be held in rooms PA1, PA2 and PA3, floor -1, and room 4.35, 4th floor, at the Department of Mathematics (#5 on the left top corner of the campus map below) at Instituto Superior Técnico:


Instituto Superior Técnico is located near Alameda Afonso Henriques. The campus in the following map is rotated 90 degrees to the left with respect to the map above. The closest subway stations are "Saldanha" (to the left in the map below) and "Alameda" (to the right in the map below). The entrance facing "Alameda" is the one between #17 and #14 on the map above. Hotel AS Lisboa is marked with an "A", Hotel Alif with a "B" on the map and Residencial Fonte Luminosa is just across the street (Av Almirante Reis) from Hotel AS Lisboa in the corner of streets Av Guerra Junqueiro and Av Almirante Reis [you have to ring the bell and go up by elevator to the reception of the Residencial]:

REGISTRATION FEE
There will be a participation fee of 100 for those who register before June 30th. Late registrations will have an additional fee of 50. All fees are to be payed in cash upon arrival.
ARRIVAL IN LISBON
From the airport to the hotels or to IST, a taxi will cost around 7 and it will be the simplest option. Those arriving by train should get off at Gare do Oriente (not at Santa Apolónia). From here one can either take a taxi (around 5) or the subway to Alameda. Useful information can also be found on the airport, railway station and bus system web-sites.
VISA INFORMATION
From the EU and from the USA visas are not required. For other nationalities, we recommend contacting the local Portuguese embassy. A comprehensive list of embassies can be found here. Entry visas to the EU are normally required for travellers coming from countries listed here.
LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

CURRENCY
The local currency in Portugal is the EURO (€). The rate to the US Dollar ($) is approximately $1.3 = €1. For an up-to-date conversion, you can visit a currency converter.

The weather in Lisbon at this time of the year is quite mild. The highs during the day are around 15-20 degrees centigrade, with a fresh breaze from the ocean, and there could be rainfall. You can find daily local weather information at the following web-site.
